Buck Island is between mile marker 7 and 8 on Route 12 in Currituck, North Carolina.  Directions below bring you to the Outer Banks on Rt. 158.  At the Rt. 12 intersection, near the Wright Brothers memorial bridge, head north and Buck Island is about 17 miles.  You will travel through Duck and then enter Currituck County just north of Sanderling. In 7 more miles, turn right into our community, directly across from shopping plaza TimBuck II.

The following are general directions to the Outer Banks.

From the North

From Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Stay on I-64  to  Exit 291B for Highway 168 South. Go south on 168, Chesapeake Expressway (toll road).  Once in North Carolina, 168 turns into US 158 East. Follow this road to the Wright Brothers Memorial Bridge, gateway to the Outer Banks.

Signs also direct travelers to an alternate route west of Norfolk.  Take I-664 South from I-64 East. Take I-64 East to Hampton, VA, and pick up I-664 South through Monitor Merrimac Tunnel. Take exit 15B to get back on I-64 East. Then take Exit 291B for Highway 168 South. Continue on 168 South, which turns into US 158. Follow this road to the Wright Brothers Memorial Bridge, gateway to the Outer Banks.

From the West

Take US Hwy 64 east from Rocky Mount, NC. Follow US 64 East through Williamston and Plymouth, NC. Continue to Roanoke Island and The Outer Banks onto Rt. 158.  head north..

From the South

Coming from South Carolina, take I-95 to Wilson, NC. Take US 264 East through Greenville and Washington, NC. From Washington, take State Route 30 to Plymouth, NC, and follow the directions above via US 64 East to The Outer Banks and Rt. 158.
